Dear friends (Swedish and French)

This morning the architect called us and wanted us to visit her to see the sketches. We went there during the late afternoon, even though I did not feel alright (tired, head ache, aching muscles). At her office I started to feel better because we really liked her work. At first we felt almost a bit chocked since her ideas were a bit different from ours. Since she’s a professional I think her ideas were far better than ours. We will do some serious thinking and then get back to her in a couple of days (for feedback). Her plan is to move both bathrooms and we need to do some research whether that is technically possible and also affordable. If this is possible, no further really expensive changes of the layout will be necessary (the roof will look the same, the kitchen will be located where it is now, we will also be able to keep the stairway indoors, all this will save us a lot of money). What I liked the most was her ideas about several glass doors and big windows on the ground floor. This will keep us in close contact with the garden and also the street and entrance. This is a short summary of her plan for the layout.

Basement; a passage, laundry room, bathroom (shower or bath tub or both), a special room to dry the laundry, a lot of storage areas and a nice passage to the wine cellar (maybe there will also be room for Sören’s office (officially known as the game room).

Ground floor; a big hall (three wardrobes), living room (27 square meters), bathroom double zinc + shower, kitchen + dining room combined (33 square meters) and a bedroom (15 square meters+4 wardrobes).

Upstairs; living room/library with a wonderful view (20 square meters), two bedrooms (11.5 and 13 square meters + closets) +small bathroom.

By the way, I hoped that you survived the storm last week. As you can see there was some damage done at my parents (check the photos on this blog).

After the meeting with the architect we went to a cosy café to have the first Semla of the year (that special bun filled with marzipan and whipped cream) to discuss the plan. Tonight we feel happy but exhausted. The project feels more real to us now when we got the sketches. I am sorry if my English is not that great, since I am not teaching in English anymore my skills tend to deteriorate quite rapidly. Love, Frida

I think the money you spend on the architect will be a good investment. It seems to be very comfortable. I hope your headache has gone over.
